In just 30-45 minutes, artists young and old transform simple stencils and vibrant butterfly sheets into magnetic fridge masterpieces using the unique Frankenfly collage technique.
Artists of all ages and abilities use pre-cut stencils such as a dog, cat, ballerina, llama, dinosaur, etc. as well as butterfly wing coloring sheets. Optionally, students may use other flat media (e.g. preserved leaves, pressed flowers, feathers, magazine clippings) brought from home.
In the class, artists will learn the Frankenfly collage technique, and when they’re satisfied with their piece, they slide it inside a magnetic picture frame perfect for the fridge!
Total time = 30-45 min.
Materials provided = stencils, magentic frames, butterfly coloring sheets
Materials needed = coloring utensils, scissors, tape
* artists 14+ can optionally draw and cut their own stencil with an Exacto knife
* anyone who doesn’t finish can take their Frankenfly home to finish later.
